When can I go back to work after a tummy tuck if my job requires no strenuous activity?
To recover from a tummy tuck procedure, patients are advised to wait at least one week until they return to work.  However any vigorous activity, such as contact sports, heavy lifting, or exercise, should not be resumed until your incision is fully healed. Normally it takes about 6 weeks for the affected site to heal completely. If your current health condition and lifestyle choices are less than optimal, e.g. you have poor circulation, type 2 diabetes, or you smoke, the healing process may be prolonged.

When can I go back to work after a tummy tuck if my job requires some or a lot of strenuous activity?
If your job requires mild to moderately strenuous activity, the time you must take off of work may be substantially longer. To prevent wound separation and ensure proper healing, you should ideally restrict your physical activity for the first 4-6 weeks. The only way to find out specifically how long you should wait is to discuss with Dr. Stoker in detail the requirements of your job. It is not a good idea to try and push your limits during your recovery. This can lead to prolonged recovery times and even necessitate revision surgery.
