Dr. Stoker is recognized nationally as a leader in cosmetic surgery. The New York Times as well as the Consumers' Research Council of America have chosen Dr. Stoker as one of the top plastic surgeons in not only Southern California, but in the nation. He is the professor of a course for his colleagues at the yearly meetings of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Stoker is also a member of the clinical staff at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He has been a featured guest on "The Today Show," "Dr. Phil," "The Doctors," The Learning Channel” and many other television shows.
Education
Dr. Stoker graduated with honors from Stanford University where he pursued a major in biology and political science. While Dr. Stoker attended Stanford, he was awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Major Grant for his Undergraduate Research. Dr. Stoker also studied medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where he graduated at the top of his class and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Stoker was also awarded a first place prize from the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation.
Training
Dr. Stoker completed his General Surgery residency at the New York University Medical Center, where he received the British Journal of Surgery Award for having the highest score in the department on the National In-Service Training Exam. Dr. Stoker completed his Plastic Surgery residency at the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the NYU School of Medicine. He was also trained in plastic surgery by Drs. Joseph McCarthy, Gerald Pitman, Sherrell Aston, as well as the distinguished staff of the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Stoker has refined his skills over the years of experience practicing as a board-certified plastic surgeon in Los Angeles.
Research
Dr. Stoker has written over a dozen publications on cosmetic surgery of the face, body and breast. He has also written several chapters on body contouring and liposuction in two of the leading textbooks on plastic surgery. The research done by Dr. Stoker on the anatomy of the facial nerve as it relates to facelifts has been presented all around the world. His break through research with power-assisted liposuction assisted in a major advance in the field of body contouring. Due to Dr. Stoker’s skill as a cosmetic surgeon in Los Angeles, he is one of a few of surgeons in all of California that has been honored by being chosen by two leading breast implant manufacturing companies to be a clinical investigator for the newest generation of silicone gel breast implants.
