Tummy Tuck for Asian Females

Most women want a flat, sculpted, tight abdominal area.  Sometimes even after working hard to lose those few extra pounds through dieting and exercising, abdominal skin doesn’t tighten the way it ideally should. Over the years, it is normal for skin to lose elasticity and start to sag. This can occur after weight loss, pregnancy, or simply the natural effects of gravity with age. To fix these problems, Dr. David Stoker offers the tummy tuck procedure. With a tummy tuck for Asian female patients, there are a few additional things to consider that are heritage-specific.

Dr. Stoker would love to meet with you personally to discuss your concerns and what he can do for you. Request a consultation online or contact his office directly at (310) 300-1779.

Tummy Tuck for Asian Female Patients – Possible Differences:

  • Scarring

A tummy tuck, for Asian female patients, may occasionally result in thicker scars. This occurs more frequently in women with darker skin pigmentation. The skin is stronger and denser in women with a darker complexion, which can result in thicker scarring. Dr. Stoker will take every precaution he can to minimize this, but if undue scarring does occur, please rest assured that it can be treated with a number of different procedures.

  • Darkening of skin around incision site

Depending on your complexion, you may notice that during the healing process, the skin surrounding the site of your incision is darker than it originally was. This normally fades within several months but in rare cases has been known to take up to several years to fade completely. Fade creams, such as those containing hydroquinone, have been shown to help reverse the discoloration more rapidly.

  • Prolonged recovery

Often women with a darker complexion may experience a longer time for the scars to fade.  After a tummy tuck, for Asian female patients, the scar fading process may take up to a year or more to complete. This is not to say that you will have an incision that does not heal for this long; however for the skin to return to its softer, original state, it could potentially take a little extra time.
